ACCESSIBILITY STATEMENT

This accessibility statement concerns the Museum and Science Centre Tiima’s website tiima-oulu.fi. The website is a public online service administered by the city of Oulu.

The website fulfils the criteria of the Act on Offering Digitized Services (306/2019) partially. The website includes some accessibility deficiencies, which are listed in this statement. The accessibility statement has been compiled on March 18, 2026.

NON-ACCESSIBLE CONTENT

The following contents and functions do not fulfil all accessibility demands.

1. Navigation submenus’ ARIA spaces

Issue: The main navigation submenus (Info, 10 Experiences, For Businesses) open when hovering or clicking, but they lack ‘aria-expanded’ and ‘aria-haspopup’ definitions. Screen readers cannot describe the submenu’s existence or state.

Observations:

2. Visibility of keyboard focus

Issue: WCAG 2.2’s new criterium 2.4.11 demands that keyboard focus is always visible. Due to the website’s CSS styles, the focus indicator may be insufficient or too impaired in many interactive elements.

Observations:

Applicable criteria: 2.4.11 Focus not obstructed (minimum) (level AA, new 2.2)

3. Image carousel’s keyboard control

Issue: Homepage’s “Vibes from Tiima” gallery is probably only implemented to be controlled by mouse. Keyboard users may not be able to browse the images or close enlarged images.

EXCESSIVE STRAIN

The website’s administrator has not appealed to excessive strain regarding any accessibility criteria.
